IU Masters Swim Club (DOC)
Bloomington, IN
The number of registered DOC swimmers is around 45. Workout times: from October 1 until Memorial Day – 11 AM until noon on weekdays and noon to 1:30 PM on weekends at Royer Pool, located on the Bloomington campus in the HPER building. There is no visitor fee for a one time visit, but three dollars will be charged if you come for an entire week. We welcome newcomers. However, because DOC has limited space and practice times, the  basic requirement is that all swimmers be able to keep up with the intervals.  Lanes are organized according to interval times, from medium to fast, to accommodate different swimming speeds.

Swimmers may sit out segments of a set if they cannot keep up, but they must follow the workout for the day.  Memorial Day until September 30, the group practices at the IU Outdoor Pool at 17th and Fee Lane. They swim during regular public lap swimming times in lanes marked “Interval Training.” Swimmers must pay the regular pool charge but the pool does offer daily and weekly rates) with the daily rate approximately three per day. The rates in September are different though the times are the same, but the Masters rent the pool since it is closed to the public.

There is not a coach on deck, although the swimmers usually follow a structured workout. Peter Finn, president of the IU Masters Swim Club, is the person to contact regarding any questions that a swimmer might have, and can be reached via email: finnp@indiana.edu.
