Open Water Swim Clinic

Attention Triathletes and Open Water Swimmers!

Once again, Dick Sidner, a professional swim coach, will lead a cadre of experienced open water coaches for a Forest Park Aquatic Center Fundraiser. It is an open water swim clinic that is geared for novices and experienced open water swimmers alike. There will be four stations that involve: entries and exits, stroke analysis, going around bouys, sighting and more. Mark you calendar for Sunday, June 7, 2015.

If you want to take your open water swim skills to the next level, this clinic is for you. Part of the training is in pools for personalized instruction and part of the training is at Morse Reservoir for application of the skills learned and taught in the pool. Hope to see you there. Heat Sheets for GRIN State Meet

Here are 2015 GRIN State Meet Results.

Here are Saturday Results.

The timeline has not changed; however, because there are 61 swimmers in the 1650 and 51 in the 1000, it is likely that a heat will be dropped.  It will not change the timeline considerably but the meet will not be held up to wait for the timeline.  The timeline included a 20 minute break between the 1650/1000 and the remainder of the meet as well as a 20 minute break (Saturday only) after the men’s 200 breaststroke for the Annual GRIN meeting.

Because there were so few entrants to the 400 IM it was decided to seed that event and not require check-in so that heat sheet is final.  You will still need to sign in for the 500, 1000 and 1650.

The competition pool will finish the distance event first and open for warm-ups as soon as the last heat is finished.  There will be sprint lanes during that time as well as the first warm-up.   Feet first entry except for the sprint lanes please.

Good luck at the meet!

GRIN Board Nominations

I would like to personally thank all the Candidates that were nominated and for your time and efforts you put yourself through for the nomination process for the positions of Chair, Co Chair, Secretary and Treasure.  Your interest and passion for USMS and GRIN is greatly appreciated.   I would also like to thank the GRIN Nominating Committee for their support and time in preparing a slate of officers for the GRIN LMSC.  We had a strong slate of 10 quality candidates and the voting was not unanimous for the three positions of Chair, Co Chair and Secretary and feel the committee did do diligence in selecting the candidates.

The slate of officers to be presented to the GRIN Membership and for final vote on Saturday April 11th by those present at the state meet are as follows

Lisa Brown, Chairman

Meg Carlson, Vice Chairman

Karen Gernert, Secretary

Susan Pollard, Treasurer

To our outgoing officers…. Thank you so much for your services and the last four years to work with you all!  It’s been great and will personally miss the opportunity to be a part of GRIN.   I ll look forward to your continued support in transitioning your role to the newly elected officers.

Thank you Mel for your engagement for the Chair of the Nomination committee and closing the loop on the process for preparing the Slate and vote tabulations.

I have include the USMS national office on this email so that they can see the strength of our process for recruiting candidates, the election process and updating their records

I am excited for this new board and look forward to seeing them take  GRIN to newer level of embracing USMS and its vision and becoming a LMSC that is looked upon by other LMSCs from across the country

Jim Barber, President
