Each year, GRIN recognizes those who have been outstanding members of our LMSC. Our annual awards include Honorary Emeritus, the Irv Merritt Award, the Strong Swimmer Award and the Super Volunteer Award. These are abbreviated descriptions and winners with the full descriptions at grinswim.org.
Honorary Emeritus: To be eligible for induction, members must:
- Have been registered with the GRIN LMSC for the last consecutive five years.
- Have turned 80 within the year.
2023 Emeritus:
- Susan Hewett, Noblesville Adult Swim Team (NAST)
Strong Swimmer: To be eligible, the winner:
- Has earned the highest no. of points swimming long distance and difficult events, the 400/500 Free(1), 800/1000 Free (2), 1500/1650 Free (3), 200 Fly (3), and 400 IM(4) +pts. for open water.
- Must be registered with Greater Indiana Masters Swimming.
2023 Strong Swimmer:
- Susie Shuck, Indy Aquatic Masters (INDY)
Super Volunteer: To be eligible, nominees:
- Should have a demonstrated history of working above and beyond the call in the betterment of GRIN.
- Must be registered with Greater Indiana Masters Swimming.
2023 Super Volunteer Winners:
- Katherine McLean, Terre Haute Torpedoes (THT), area of exception: Adult-Learn-to-Swim
- Jim Ringer, Zionsville Aquatic Masters (ZAM), area of exception: Adult-Learn-to-Swim
- Bruce Young, Indy Aquatic Masters (INDY), area of exception: Adult-Learn-to-Swim
2023 Irv Merritt Winner:
- Should exemplify the standards and values embodied in the life of Irv Merritt.
- Must be registered with Greater Indiana Masters Swimming.
